Shared Lists, Comments and Notifications: What's New in OllaCart and How to Use It

Friends shopping together

October 24, 2026

OllaCart is a universal shopping cart: you save products from any store into one place, organize them, get opinions from people you trust, and buy on the store's own site. This month's biggest update makes that last part much easier. You can now invite people into one of your lists, so you can build it together.

Here's what's new:

  • Shared lists. Invite someone to one list (not your whole cart), and they can add to it.
  • Add to a shared list from the Chrome extension. Choose the list right when you save a product.
  • View-only links that show one list to anyone, with no sign-in needed.
  • Comments on items, so the "which one?" conversation happens next to the product.
  • Notifications when someone adds to your list, or likes, dislikes or comments on an item.

Below we walk through each one, and then cover how to use OllaCart from start to finish.

Shared lists: build a list together

Planning an apartment, a wedding registry, a group gift or a trip? Make a list for it and invite the people who are in on it.

  1. On your home cart, tap the list in the chip row (or tap + New to make one).
  2. Tap Share list.
  3. Under Invite people to add, type a friend's email and tap Invite, or tap Copy invite link and text it to them.

When they open the link and sign in, they join that list. From then on, everyone in it can:

  • Add products from the website or the Chrome extension.
  • Like, dislike and comment on every item.
  • See who added what.

Only that list is shared. People you invite never see the rest of your cart, your other lists or your purchases. Shared lists show a small people icon in the chip row, so you can always tell which ones other people can see.

You stay in control. As the list's owner you can remove anyone, and tapping Reset link turns off the old invite link so it stops working. If you're a member of someone else's list, open Share · People and tap Leave this list whenever you like. Anything you added goes back to your own cart.

Add to a shared list from the extension

The OllaCart Chrome extension now has an Add to menu when you save a product. Pick My cart, one of your lists, or a shared list (shared lists are marked 👥 and show who owns them). The extension remembers your last choice, so if you're shopping for the same list all afternoon, you only pick it once.

The extension's side panel also has a new Activity tab showing what's happening in your lists. Items in shared lists show who added them.

View-only links: show one list to anyone

Sometimes you just want to show someone a list without inviting them to edit it. Open Share list and tap Create view link. Anyone with the link sees that list's products, with photos, prices and a link to each store. They don't need an account, and they can't add or change anything.

The owner can tap Turn off at any time, and the link stops working right away.

Comments: talk about the item, not around it

Open any item in a shared list (or in a cart someone shared with you) and you'll find a Comments section under the details. Ask "does this come in green?", say "this one, not the other one", or leave a sizing tip. The person who added the item, everyone in the list and anyone else who commented all get notified.

You can delete your own comments, and you can delete any comment on items you added.

Notifications that find you

When someone adds to one of your shared lists, or likes, dislikes or comments on your items, OllaCart lets you know:

  • In the Chrome extension: a desktop notification, plus an unread count on the OllaCart icon in your toolbar. Click the notification to jump straight to the list.
  • In the iPhone app: push notifications are coming in the next app update. After updating, sign in and allow notifications when asked. Tapping a notification opens the list.
  • In Safari on Mac and iPhone: Safari extensions can't show desktop notifications, so you'll see the unread count and the Activity tab instead.

We keep it from getting noisy. If someone taps like, changes their mind and taps it again a few minutes later, you get one notification, not three. You're never notified about your own activity.

How to use OllaCart, start to finish

New to OllaCart, or only using part of it? Here's the whole loop.

1. Save products from any store

  • On a computer: install the Chrome extension. On any product page, open it to save the product. OllaCart fills in the name, price, photos and link, and you choose which list it goes in.
  • On iPhone: get the OllaCart app and add it to Safari's Share menu. Tap Share on any product page, swipe to the end of the app icons, tap More, then Edit, tap the green + next to OllaCart, and tap Done. After that, saving a product is two taps.

More detail in our guides to the Chrome extension and the iPhone app.

2. Organize with lists and categories

Your home cart has a swipeable row of chips at the top:

  • Lists (folder icon) are yours to name: "Apartment," "Birthday ideas," "Fall wardrobe." Shared lists have a people icon.
  • Categories (shapes icon) group products by what they are, like shoes or kitchen, across every list.

Press and hold a product (or drag it with your mouse) to reorder your cart, so your top picks stay at the front. Prices change, so open a product and tap Refresh from store page to pull the latest price and photos.

3. Get opinions before you buy

  • Share a list with the people helping you decide, as described above.
  • Share your cart and follow friends on Social to see what they're saving. See social shopping with shared carts.
  • Read the room: likes, dislikes and comments show you which item is the favorite.

Not sure what to buy at all? Describe what you need to the Shopping Assistant, for example "a quiet carry-on under $200", and it compares options across stores.

4. Buy on the store's site

When you're ready, tap Buy Now or Check out. OllaCart opens each product on the retailer's own website, and you pay the store directly at its normal price. OllaCart never asks for your card number. Some links are affiliate links, which means the store may pay OllaCart a small commission at no extra cost to you. See how affiliate shopping works.

Frequently asked questions

Can people I invite see my whole cart?

No. Inviting someone shares one list only. They never see your other lists, the rest of your cart or what you've bought.

Does the person I invite need an OllaCart account?

To add items, like, dislike or comment, yes. It's free, and the invite link walks them through signing up. To just look at a list, send a view-only link instead, which needs no account.

How do I stop sharing a list?

Open the list, tap Share · People, and remove people one by one. Tap Reset link so the old invite link stops working, and tap Turn off next to the view-only link if you made one.

What happens to my items if I leave a shared list?

They stay in your own cart. They're just no longer in that list.

Can someone in my shared list edit or delete my items?

No. Only the person who added an item can edit or delete it. The list's owner can take an item out of the list, and it goes back to the cart of the person who added it.

Why am I not getting notifications in Safari?

Safari extensions don't support desktop notifications. Check the unread count on the OllaCart icon and the Activity tab in the extension instead.
